With a solid base in Europe, Colac was looking for other markets. Given the strong economic growth in China, Colac chose to participate in the FHC trade fair in Shanghai. The first participation in 2015 was primarily intended to get to know and understand the market. Asia has a very different cultural background than Europe and that also translates into consumer behavior. By participating in Food and Hotel China (FHC) in Shanghai, Colac was able to take a closer look at the interests and tastes of the Chinese market.
After a number of successful participations in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Colac was looking for a more permanent solution to respond to the demand from the Chinese market. A number of options were considered, but due to cultural differences and the language barrier, it was decided to hire someone in China. Fiona started at Colac in January 2019, as responsible sales of the Chinese and Asian markets. She is our local and first point of contact for the Chinese and Asian market.
To fully introduce her to the Colac world, she spent a week at Colac in Beerse to get to know the tricks of the trade and the products. It was also the ideal opportunity for Belgian colleagues to introduce her to European culture. That of course also includes a drink.
